bushwomen, united!

okay, so i'm diggin' on the title of Laura Flanders' new book, Bushwomen: Tales of a Cynical Species, as well as the review and interview with Flanders in today's Salon. talkin' 'bout those women who've given their lives over to the dark side Bush Administration and the furthering of its vision, misguided or no, biographies of the likes of Karen Hughes and Condoleeza Rice, women who are represented by the media as being compassionate conservatism embodied in sensible virtuosity, but whose backgrounds might just indicate a whole lot less of a moderate bent than idealogical partisanship and raw political ambition.

(see above sentence as an example of why i don't do all THAT much written opinionizing.)

and then of course, Salon's gotta go pandering to ME with their look at the increasingly apathetic-yet-potentially-enormously-powerful female singleton demographic--girls, we gotta get votin' (and i'm including here my young and married yet without kids kinda sistren) if we expect to have anything left to us once this bush administration gets done with us. the economy's gone to pot, our reproductive rights are in jeopardy, hell, even our health insurance coverage and social security benefits are hanging in the balance! and all them politicians, whether democrat or republican, are out there busily pandering to the children'd! (not that there's anything wrong with that, some of my best friends are have children!) what about us womenfolk that haven't gotten around to it yet, don't ever plan to, or don't manage to get around to it in time? why we gotta be so silent?! go vote!

or at least hope they come up with better solutions for us than lumping us in with their imaginary ward-n-june demographic.

and of course, as always, them Salon links can be bypassed with salon/tabletalk as login and password, or really, they're worth sitting through the daypass to peruse.
